TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT
PUBLIC TRANSPORT -
MVV
www.mvv-muenchen.de
Over the last decades, Munich’s MVV has built a closely-knit public
transport system. S-Bahn trains even travel to distant outskirts, so
that you can dispense with your own vehicle with respect to many day
trips.
Buses and trams will take you to the U-Bahn net. Tram 19 has lengthy
trajectories even at night. In collaboration with the MVV, Munich offers
visitors the 'München Welcome Card’. Day tickets cost
€ 6,50 EURO,
three-day ones are € 16 EURO. They entitle you to the
unlimited use of all public transport. In
addition, ticket holders get up to 50% reduction at more than 30 sights,
castles and museums. For long-term sojourns, MVV has the ‘Grüne
Monatskarte’ (Green Monthly Ticket)
from 39,50 EURO, and also the "Isarcard" from
9,70 EURO per week. Info: Tel. 21 03 30

CALL A BIKE
In a
Germany-wide pilot project bicycles are for rent on every crossroad in
Munich, within the Mittlerer Ring (you can recognize them by the
luminous orange locks). You call the number 0700-522 55 22 and open an
account (5 euro’s). Per credit card payoff the bicycle is immediately
available. The price is calculated from the moment you rent it until you
return it. It is 6 cents per minute and 4 cents if you are willing to
make an annual deposit of 20 euro’s.
