Hotels in Kassel
The city of Kassel Germany is located on
the
Fulda River
and it has local population, of 200,000.
The city on the Fulda river is always a popular destination, not just
during the Documenta art exhibition.
This is one of the most important exhibitions of contemporary art, held
here every five years. In 2002 the 11th version of the exhibition took
place.
Kassel suffered
severe damage during World War II because of the presence of armaments
industries based there. Much of the town has been rebuilt in funtional
1950s style. The town is famous for its outstanding collection of
European Art. Most of this is housed in
the beautiful Wilhelmshöhe castle.
Kassel is not just the service, industrial and administrative center of
the North Hesse region, but also the capital of the
"German Fairy Tale Road",
which extends from Hanau (near Frankfurt) in the south to Bremen as the
northernmost point. In one of the museums of Kassel
fairytale fans can explore the world of the
Brothers Grimm. Every year numerous visitors enjoy the
wonderful museums and those seeking relaxation can take advantage of the
extensive health resort and wellness programmes in Kassel’s spa district
Wilhelmshöhe. Sports enthusiasts will find facilities for everything
from water sports to golf to skydiving.
Since unification “moved” Kassel into
the geographical center of the country, the city has experienced a
dynamic upswing.
