Dortmund has numerous medieval churches. Some of the most important ones are listed hereunder.

The Petrikirche (Peter's Church) : a Gothic 14-th century hall church with a splendid high altar (from 1521) made by the Flemish master Gilles. Also noteworthy is the former dominican Propsteikirche, with its exquisite late-Gothic main altar. Closeby are two other churches : the Reinoldkirche and the Marienkirche. The former is dedicated to Saint Reinold, the patron saint of Dortmund and has an early-Gothic 13th century main body and a late-Gothic 15th century presbytery.
