A one-day sightseeing tour of Cologne
simply has to start with a visit to the Cathedral . From here, head down
to the Museum Ludwig. Continue from here down to the Rhine and board one
of the Rhine ferries at the Hohenzollernbrücke (Hohenzollern Bridge) and
steam over to Deutz. Take in the fabulous view of Cologne's impressive
Altstadt (Old Town) panorama. A short stroll back over the Deutzer
Brücke (Deutz Bridge) brings you to the Hotel Maritim.
Visit St. Georg (St. George's Church) and stroll down Hohe Straße with
all its wonderful stores and emporia. Then continue your sojourn towards
the Gürzenich where you should take a well-deserved rest.
Recuperated and refreshed, visit Alt-St. Alban (Old St.
Alban's Church)
and then continue on to the Rathaus, (Town Hall), crossing the Alter
Markt (Old Market) and through St. Martin's Quarter to Groß St. Martin
Martin (Great St. Martin's Church).
In the evening, the KölnMesse recommends a concert at the Philharmonie
or "Saturday Night Fever" at the Musical Dome next to the Central
Station.
If you are visiting Cologne on a Monday, we recommend that you visit the
Diözesanmuseum (Diocesan Museum) instead of the museum complex, as
almost all municipal museums are closed on Mondays.
