Hauptbahnhof
At the place where the Lehrter Bahnhof once was, which was inaugurated
in 1871, in 2006, in time for the WorldCup, the new train station of
Berlin will be completed. The station with the most connections in
Europe, close to the Regierungsviertel, is until 15 m deep and is
covered with an enormous glass hall designed by the architect’s firm
Gerkan, Marg & Partner. Every day, at least 750 international and
regional trains are expected here and about 240,000 people will get in
and out.
