This building was erected between 1761 and 1765 on the orders
of court jeweller and banker Veitel Heine Ephraim. It was thought
to be Berlin’s most handsome private mansion. When Mühlendamm
was widened in 1935, the house was torn down. The fragments were
stored in West-Berlin and given back in the early 1980s so that a
reconstruction 12 metres down the road was made possible.Nowadays
exhibitions of the city museum are being held here.
