The hostel is located in the trendy area of Friedrichshain. One of the hostel’s main attractions is its large, green courtyard which hosts a beer garden, BBQ, table tennis and comfortable seating areas. As soon as you arrive you will feel the history of this lovingly renovated century-old building, which was formerly a Jewish girls’ school. Our rooms are bright and spacious and have been newly renovated.

Rooms

All the hotel's rooms are decorated chiefly in neutral colours with tasteful splashes of vibrant tones. Rooms have wooden furnishings and laminate floors.

Hotel details

The hostel reception is open 24-hours a day, where you can buy stamps and public transport tickets and pick up free postcards. There is a green, quiet courtyard with a hammock and various benches tucked away behind the hostel where you can relax in comfort outside. In the garden you can also play table tennis and meet new people. The hostel's game room is equipped with a pinball machine, darts, billiards and table football. The building that houses the hostel was formerly a Jewish girls’ boarding school, established in 1903.

Food & Beverages

A buffet breakfast is served every morning in the hostel's restaurant (EUR 4.90 per person per day). Breakfast is served from 07:00 until 11:00 during the week and from 08:00 until 11:00 at weekends. The hostel's Sauerkraut und Bulgur restaurant is also open for dinner, serving a wide range of both simple and exotic German and Mediterranean dishes for a reasonable price. There is a spacious, kitchen within the hostel, equipped with a stove, dishes and utensils, where you can prepare your own breakfast or dinner. Alternatively you can grill in the courtyard. During the summer the hostel frequently organises its own barbecues. The hostel can make a packed lunch for you for EUR 3.50.

Please note that bed linen is not included in dorms; there is a one-off payment of EUR 2.50 per person.

Wireless Internet Hotspot is available in the entire hotel and charges are applicable.

Travel information

From Berlin Schönefeld airport (SXF): Take the overground S9 (S-Bahn) train towards 'Grunewald' and alight at 'Ostbahnhof'. Journey time around 20 minutes. From Ostbahnhof: Walk down Strasser Der Pariser Kommune for 500 m and you will see the hostel on your left-hand side. Total journey time: less than 30 minutes. Overground (S-Bahn) lines S3, S5, S6, S7, S9 and S75 all stop here. From Berlin Tegel airport (TXL): Take the TXL express bus and alight at 'Alexanderplatz'. Take the U5 U-Bahn (underground) line towards 'Hönow' and alight at 'Weberwiese'. The hostel is just around the corner.

Area information

TV-Tower (1.9 km) – here you can dine 204 metres above ground in the tower’s visitor centre. Gendarmenmarkt (3.1 km) – this beautifully restored square is home to the French and German Cathedrals as well as Berlin’s impressive Concert Hal. Checkpoint Charlie (3.3 km) – visit the infamous cold war crossing point between West and East Berlin. The Brandenburg Gate (4.1 km) – see the city's iconic landmark, built in the late 18th century.

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, 80 percent of the first night will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

VAT is included.  Service charge is included.  City/tourist tax is not applicable. 

Meal Plan

Buffet breakfast is not included and costs EUR 4.90 per person. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  All children under 5 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.  All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.  All older children or adults are charged EUR 10.00 per night and person for extra beds.  Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.
