Helter Skelter Hostel BerlinMost centrally located in the heart of berlin the hostel is the ideal starting point for sightseeing and nightlife. Since 1st of January we are going back to where it all started - a hostel for backpackers. Clean rooms and bathrooms, delicious breakfast, free cooking facilities in our self catering kitchen, free hot showers, free lockers, a pool table, a club downstairs and of course our bar and reception, which is 24 hours available and the international crew will make a difference.

We are running hostels since 1996 now and especially the last years have seen a trend to smaller rooms and more privacy, while dorms are gettinger cheaper and ensuite bathrooms become a standard in many new opened hotel-like hostels. Where the modern traveler saves some money through low-cost carriers and can afford a slightly more expensive more private room, we felt that especially the backpacker athmosphere and spirit is fading.

Rooms

All rooms have been completely renewed in january 2005. With the new concept of creating a hostel for backpackers only, we decided to have individually decorated rooms adding the little extra fun to where you rest from your party-day in berlin. The rooms are bright and spacious, most rooms have single beds and bunk beds mixed. Apart from the big dorm all rooms have a table and chairs. All rooms have smaller stools and bedside lamps as well as free lockers for your safety. Also for safety reasons the rooms are non-smoking and we cannot accept animals in the rooms.

Cancellation policy

At least 24 hours before day of arrival. The hotel reserves the right to pre-authorise credit cards prior to arrival.

Hotel details

In our common room you can hang out 24 hours, no curfew - no lockout. We have a self-catering kitchen and a pool table. Here are also free lockers, where you can leave your luggage during the day if you check in early or check out late. Although we don't have strict policies about drinks and food in the rooms it's recommended to socialize and have the party here. This is also where the breakfast buffet is served for EUR 3.00 from 8 - 12, earlier or later on request.

Area information

The Hostel is located in Berlin Mitte, which is right in the center of the city. Most of the old Berlin is located here. After the Berlin Wall came down the former center of East Berlin was rebuilt and the new Berlin city - which together with the Alexanderplatz was the centre of the nightlife in the 1920's - was ‘re-invented’. We are in the northern part of the inner city, very close to Oranienburger Strasse, a few minutes away from Hackescher Markt and Friedrichstrasse. In 10 minutes south and southeast by foot you'll get to the museums island with the National Gallery, Old Museum, Berlin ‘Dome’ Cathedral, Pergamon Museum, Humboldt University and to famous “Unter den Linden” - the main street from Alexanderplatz to the Brandenburg Gate.
